For the past two weeks, I’ve been discussing a crucial topic- the signs that you might be struggling with healthy boundaries (you’ll find the first three signs here and the second three here). Today, I’m continuing this important conversation by sharing three more signs that you lack boundaries. I hope the previous six have sparked some self-reflection on the boundaries in your life.

Let’s look at the next three.

1. Sign you lack boundaries: You’re caught in victimhood.

When you miss proper boundaries, others can take advantage of you. You might feel betrayed or hard done by others, in life, or in your current circumstances. Perhaps you’ve experienced mobbing at work, felt overlooked in your family, or been asked for an ear to listen to by friends without receiving the same appreciation and support. Reflect on these experiences, as they can be indicators of unhealthy boundaries. 

2. Sign you lack boundaries: You are a little bit annoyed most of the time.

Of course, you are. You feel like you are being taken advantage of, and it’s no wonder you’re annoyed. 

3. Sign you lack boundaries: You feel disrespected at least a little bit. 

Boundaries are a powerful tool that teaches others what you tolerate and how you want to be spoken to. If you don’t set them properly, others may treat you in ways that don’t align with your standards. Sometimes people become less attentive when they know someone isn’t standing up for themselves. You might be treated less than you deserve. If you’re treated below your standards, you feel disrespected. Remember, setting and maintaining your boundaries is a key to earning respect.
