20,000.
This is the number of decisions we make each day. Yes, so many.
Every. single. day.
From our half-asleep shuffle to the bathroom to put toothpaste on our toothbrush, to our caffeinated commute to work, to the answer to the daily question we mull over with our spouse: “what shall we eat for dinner?” and each fully conscious decision of what to eat for dinner or which movie to watch.
From the biggest decisions to the trivial, 20.000 is a lot.
Some decisions have minor consequences, yet others might impact our lives on a bigger scale. You’ll never know which decisions have the most impact until after you make them.
It’s enough to keep you up at night, tossing and turning inside twisted bedsheets, eyes and brain burning from lack of precious sleep.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a voice of reason to whisper in your ear and tell you the right option to take? A little fortune teller to pave the way to your best reality…?
You already have this fortune teller. It’s called intuition.
It guides you constantly, but it can only help you if you are ready to listen. Your intuition is your connection to the divine and it talks to you through bodily sensations. This might be something like an opening in your body, a vibrant prickling or a contraction, stiffness or heaviness.
The majority of us have been taught to ignore this presence, favoring our brain’s logic or cultural norms instead. When was the last time you did something because you felt you sort of had to? Yeah, that’s what I mean!
We live in a world that honors the mind and disgraces the heart and the emotions. Logic is king in our world. We dismiss our emotions as unreliable and our intuition as “woo”. Certainly this is not enough to base a decision upon… is it?
If you’ve cut off the wisdom of your intuition, you’ve chosen to fly blind.
But luckily every single one of us is born with this guide. And a good connection to it. That means, we can relearn to connect and listen to our intuition.
When listening and taking aligned decisions we decide for the option that serves our highest good. Either through a lesson we need to learn to move faster to what we desire or to show us the way that makes us thrive as much as possible. Often more than we could have imagined before.
And there’s another very positive plus about aligned decisions. If we’ve a lesson to learn or the outcome of our decision is not what we’ve aimed for, we’re far better able to tackle and digest the consequences as we’re when we took a decision with this rumbling feeling inside. Quite often, these outcomes produce grief (which is totally unnecessary, but that’s another story).
Aligned decisions are aligned with our hearts, minds and souls. And guided by the divine. Aligned decisions are for our highest good.
So how can you make sure your decision is aligned? By listening to your intuition.
We’re connected to the divine through our intuition. Our intuition serves as our guide and it talks to us through body sensations. Some people call it gut feeling.
Imagine something that happened in your past and that was very positive. How does this feel in your body? Do you notice an opening somewhere in your body? Or a comfortable vibrance? A prickling somewhere? How does positive feel for you?
Everybody and every body is different.
Check in with yourself: Ask your body to show you how a “yes” feels.
Then check the opposite. How does a “no” feel? Do you feel a contraction somewhere in your body? Or a heaviness? Stiffness? What is your unique “no” sensation?
Your intuition speaks best through different emotions and sensations in your body.
And the more often you listen to your intuition the clearer this voice and the signs your body is sending you become.
Now it’s time to practice.
Start with small decisions like: What’s best for me to have for breakfast today?
Observe how each option feels in your body. Test different options and observe.
You can practice this in a very playful manner. In fact, the more playful the better. You can even use intuition to decide what outfit to choose for your day.
Slowly move towards letting intuition guide your bigger decisions as you learn to trust the sensations you receive. When you are ready, you’ll hear your intuiton’s voice and signs clearly in all aspects of your life.
If this is new to you, it might take a while until it feels natural to you. It’s definitely worth the time investment.
My wish for you is for your intuition to become your closest ally and source of wisdom in your everyday life. May your intuition be with you.
